Can you imagine you life without mobile communications? Probably no, but do you know that any mobile phone user can become a victim of eavesdropping. It is illegal to eavesdrop on phone calls, except of special occasions, when it is done by law enforcements, and such an eavesdropping is legal only if they have a special warrant. That is why it is really important to know, how to detect eavesdropping and how to avoid it.

The first sign that your smartphone is compromised is the battery temperature. The point here is in that that such a vulnerable smartphone will have a warm, or even hot battery, when it is not in use. It is ok if the battery is going hot while you are talking, or using any kind of apps, but when it happens when the phone is in the stand-by mode – it is possible that a spy app was installed and works right now.

We at Jammer-Store also recommend you to pay attention to the strange behavior of your mobile gadget. That may help you to avoid warrantless eavesdropping and tracking sometime. If it takes to long to turn your device off, it may point to an eavesdropping app. Sometimes smartphone may even simply refuse to turn off, but that may also point to its malfunction.

Watching the battery power level may help too. If your phone is being eavesdropped – the battery will go down much faster than usual. But we have to warn you, that may lead to something just if your smartphone worked for a couple of days without recharging and suddenly started to drain the battery for a day. Also, the battery may go down faster simply if it is old. In a matter of fact, smartphones that are recording all the sounds around them have huge power consumption too.

Listen carefully for the noise or the interference that may appear, when you are talking to someone by the phone. If your mobile device is being wiretapped – you may here strange noises, echoes and clicks. But such an eavesdropping is possible only if evildoers or law enforcements cooperate with your mobile carrier. So, to discuss sensitive topics – it is better to use another mobile device and a SIM card. Also, if your cell phone causes interference with audio equipment, when you don’t use it – it may transmit data to third parties.

In case, modern smartphones are mostly vulnerable for eavesdropping apps, so always check the apps you install. Another way to define if something is wrong is to try changing your mobile network type in the Setting menu of a smartphone. If you’ll see a couple of suspicious mobile carriers in the list – someone is wiretapping you. Those are the most simple ways of how to detect if your phone is being wiretapped, without any kind of special equipment.

If you think that you are a victim of eavesdropping it will be wise to check your smartphone for malware, and if you are Android user – check app’s permissions. That’s how you may probably detect a spy app. The next step would be contacting police, they have special equipment, that will be able to detect any type of eavesdropping or wiretapping.

To maintain your device safe from eavesdropping – avoid suspicious phone repairs services and do not install apps from third parties. Sometimes, mobile phone jammer would be helpful to. It is able to block any kind of eavesdropping for a short period and we recommend to use it, when you’d like to discuss something in private.

Remember, that safety of your information is your top priority and if you won’t do something to keep it safe – no on will do that for you.

First of all we’d like to mention that all the written here can be said about tablets too, not only smartphones. 1. Avoid using mobile banking apps on your smartphone! Here we are talking about special apps, that banks create for their users. Yes, they are convenient and user friendly, but, there are a couple of problems with those apps, you should be aware of. First of all it is definitely unknown, who exactly has written and tested that app. Also, it is not known, if the bank had tested that app at all, or they have simply decided to publish it, and fix bugs and vulnerabilities in the updates.
We at Jammer-Store suppose that this topic is rather important, because mobile banking grows, its is really convenient and many users join those mobile banking programs every day. But you have to be really careful, because that’s the place, where evildoers have a chance to earn lots of money very quickly.

And you should understand that it it far easier to loose your phone, or someone may steal it and even hack, modern smartphones are vulnerable to various hacks and exploits.

2. Avoid using mobile banking on routed, or jailbroken smartphone!

Many people route or jailbreak their smartphones in order to get additional benefits, Android users gain more privileges in the OS, they can install custom versions of the OS and many other things. And the owners of jailbroken devices are able to install software from third parties, not only from AppStore. And here hides the main vulnerability.

Those additional privileges are granted not only for a user, but for all the apps he runs. So, to protect your bank account and a smartphone from modern wireless threats, it is better to avoid jailbreak or routing your phone.

3. Do not use an app for mobile banking on the same phone, if you’ve installed it from a third party vendor!

Android and iOS, allow to install apps only from their appstores, GooglePlay and AppStore by default. But many people try to install applications from third parties, because they are free there. If you see a free version of the app, that should not be free – it is always better to avoid that, because in 99% you will get a virus. The sames goes for mobile, or Internet banking apps.

4. Never use the same smartphone for an app, and for SMS passwords!

Here you should understand that modern concept of a remote access is always connected with two-factor identification. The basis here is really simple. Website uses two factors to determine who you are, first is the login-password combination and the second one is the thing, that belongs to you. It may be a USB trinket with a specific key, or, when it comes to mobile banking – a combination, that is sent directly to your cell phone.

In that case we will have both those factors on our smartphone, that may be vulnerable, that’s why we may tell you to remember that mobile app for banking has to be on one device and all the SMS from banks have to com to another device.

5. Never use free public Wi-Fi hotspots!

Here we are talking about public hotspots situated in restaurants, hotels, airports. All the data comes to a router without wires and can be intercepted by literary anyone. Wi-Fi networks are vulnerable and you should remember that, while using them. So, if someone will be able to crack WEP or WPA2 encryption – he’ll surely gain access to your bank account.

6. Use mobile anti-virus apps!

Many people have serious doubts about that, they say that antimalware apps simply drain the battery and do nothing useful, but we can tell you that they may provide at least partial protection from trojan apps that steal personal data and may give some clues for a hacker. And most of them are totally free.

Always keep in mind that your security is up to you and your main power against hackers of any kind is your knowledge and your caution. Always keep an eye for the wireless connection of your smartphone, and if you’ll notice something suspicious – turn of the phone, or use a mobile phone blocker and contact your bank to temporary block your account, that may save some of your money for some time.

In opposite to Google, which looks for the simple websites on the web, Shodan works with, let’s say, “deeper” data. It is some kind of a “black” Google, which looks for servers, web-cameras, printers, routers and other devices, connected to the Internet.
It is incredible, but you can find millions of unprotected devices with Shodan, using a simple search query. Numerous traffic lights, security cameras, home automation systems, heating systems – it is all connected to the Internet and can be easily detected. So, wireless Internet security is a myth.

Shodan users have already discovered the controls of a water park, several gas stations and even a crematorium. Cybersecurity specialists have even detected the control systems of a nuclear power plant and atomic particles accelerator. And the worst thing here is the fact that only a few of those systems have some sort of security system.

“It is a giant fiasco in sphere of security”, – says H.D. Moor, security chief at Rapid 7. That company has its own private database of a security loopholes, like Shodan gathers and they use it for their own scientific purposes.

If you will run a simple search query with keywords “default password”, you will get millions of printers, servers and control stations with login: “admin” and password: “1234”. Even more of such connected systems has no access protection at all and literary anyone is able to hack them with even a simple Internet browser.

Dan Tentler, an independent system penetration specialist has shown at Defcon last year how he was able to detect and hack controls of evaporative coolers, water boilers and even garage doors. He has also found an automated car wash, which he was able to turn on and off and an ice arena in Denmark, which can be defrosted in one click.

One city in Europe had the whole control system for traffic lights connected to the Internet, and one command was all that was needed to get it to the maintenance mode. In that case it will be at hacker’s total disposal. Also, a hydro power plant was discovered in France, with 2 turbines, 3 megawatt each. “One can do a lot of harm with that”, – Tentler says, but we at Jammer-Store think that he has put it mildly.

So why all those device are connected to the world wide web and are barely unprotected? In some cases, like iPhone controlled car alarms and door locks, they think that it is really hard to find. And that’s why people don’t really consider security measures.

Far greater problem here, at least as we see it, is that many of those device are not to be connected to the Internet. Many enterprises frequently buy devices, which enable remote control of, let’s say, heating system. An how to connect that system to a computer? In most cases it is much easier to connect them both to a web server, which automatically opens a way for hackers.

But we can tell you that Shodan is being used for good reasons. Security speialists, researchers and law enforcements are the main users of that unique search engine. Matherly agrees, that “bad guys” may use it to look for their targets too, but he adds that hackers always have an access to a botnet, whole networks of infected computers, that are able to do the same, while remaining transparent. Nowadays, most of cyber attacks are aimed on stealing money or intellectual property. Hackers still rarely try to do some harm by blowing up a printer, or turning of traffic lights.

Cybersecurity specialist try to avoid those scenarios and they look for the vulnerabilities in the Internet connected devices with Shodan, they also recommend to use 2,4 GHz signal blockers, if you have any wireless equipment at home. And in the meantime, lots of devices, connected to the Internet and without any protection, wait for an attack.

If you think that a pretty expensive GSM compatible car alarm will make your car 100% safe from any kind of car thieves and hijackers, and will also provide you lots of options to control your vehicle, you’re probably wrong. Of course, your smartphone or a simple cell phone will work as a car alarm remote control, but simply remember that those modern smartphones are rather vulnerable to various hacks and exploits. That’s why it is not the best idea to use your mobile gadget as a car alarm remote control. But GSM car alarm will though provide a couple of benefits. First of all it will make all those code grabbing devices, that are used for vehicle hijacking totally useless. Also you’ll be able to start the engine remotely, which is rather convenient if your car is parked outdoors in winter.

But, there are a couple of rather old and widely known ways to surpass those GSM car alarms. First and one of the most effective ones are the device that are able to spoof cell towers. Those were recently used by authorities in US for tracking. To make it short – those are device that pretend to be a cell tower and make any GSM device to think that they are connected to a cell tower, while all their traffic goes through that gadget. Using that gadget will compromise GSM car alarm.

Another point you should consider while dealing with that kind of alarms is that, that you won’t be able to use GSM blockers, and if someone will use cell phone signal blockers of any kind around you, that alarm will be useless too. No one will be able to lock, or unlock it. But, looking at the recent research of Don Bailey and Matthew Solnic that feature may be considered as a decent security measure.

We will begin with the device that was developed recently, it is able to hack codes of GSM alarms by cracking their encryption algorithms. Security specialists calculated that such a device may be built with only 5000 dollars. But now that situation gets even worse. We’ve already mentioned Don Bailey and Matthew Solnic, they have discovered a vulnerability in the very GSM communications protocol.

Even the latest GSM alarms with two-way communications and dialog codes are exposed to that vulnerability. Evildoers that have some knowledge in technology and engineering are able to access a vehicle with such an alarm, and even start an engine remotely. The only thing needed to be done is sending a specific text message to alarm with the code of the desired operation. The same will also work for various smartphone apps for car remote control. Don Bailey and Matthew Solnic ran lots of tests to discover that vulnerability.

“We’ve simply connected a notebook to a GSM network, which supports M2M (Machine-to-Machine) technology. That system lets devices to share data over the GSM network. So, while connected to that network we’ve gained the ability to communicate with car alarms, that are connected to the same GSM networks. We’ve discovered an opportunity to send them such commands as “disarm the alarm” and “start the engine”. So we’ve got an unlimited access to the vehicle”, – says Matthew Solnic, cyber security expert.

The problem here is that it is possible to use that method for hacking not only car alarms, but other device that are using GSM network. Though, some car alarms can resist such a hack, because they use secure data transmission channels. “Our goal is to make major manufacturers check their technologies and improve their alarms.”, – Don Bailey says. They have provided all the information they have gathered to major alarm manufacturers and we hope that they will take some measures. Anyway, it is really good that such a hack was discovered by the people, who do not intent to use and exploit it.

You should know, that by hacking that alarm evildoers will be able not only to control the car, but to access GPS data, so they will probably be able to find out where the car owner lives. We’ve already wrote about such crimes, where GPS navigator’s data led to such crimes. In that case we suppose that GSM/GPS signal blocker will be suitable defensive measure, until car alarm manufacturers won’t improve their devices.

Augmented reality glasses from Google, the so called Google Glass, are really popular among tech geeks and other people that are fond of modern and interesting gadgets. But some people are concerned about the problem of privacy. If that gadget will become widely spread, than all of us may be under hidden video surveillance. That’s why there are even large communities, that are trying to restrict those glasses in public places.

Google Glass demo shows that this is a really modern and totally safe device, but many people think that it will cause lots of privacy issues.
Another privacy problem here is the fact that Google Glass will let you automatically identify a person in the crowd and provide you all the data on that person, from social networks. So, we at jammer-store.com can say that if there is a Glass explorer nearby – chances for a private conversation are extremely low.

Also, the quick and intuitive search will affect social life in many ways. Google Glass may uncover the information, which is preferred to be concealed. Imagine the situation, when you look at your talker’s watches you see the watches alone, and if you will use Google Glass, you will get an info about its price, manufacturer, etc. So, people may begin to judge you depending on what you wear.

We should also mention tracking and stalking issues. As you know, Glass is synced with your Android based smartphone and uses its 3G or 4G network. In that case, someone will be able to track your location, using cell tower triangulation. And another problem here is that it uses Bluetooth standard to communicate with a smartphone. That standard uses vulnerable 2,4 GHz frequency, which can be easily hacked.

Another thing we should consider are all the new opportunities, that those glasses provide to evildoers. Just imagine, what can be done with all that information? Anyone will be able to assess, how much money do you have, by just looking at you. Glass will provide all the necessary data on the prices of your clothes and accessories, info on social networks, etc.

On the other hand, people now are getting used to a video surveillance, there are CCTV cam’s everywhere and car cameras are installed in may vehicles, but the difference here is that all the data they gather is stored locally and is being deleted after some time and when it comes to Google Glass – all the data is stored in the cloud, where it can be obtained by literary anyone, from law enforcements to terrorists.

And it may be stored there for a really long time. As long as Google gathers personal user’s data, it won;t hesitate to use all the information, gathered with Glass. All those files may be processed, audio files may be transformed to text and processed with filters. Using photos and video’s one is able to detect faces and find out where, when and with whom was any particular person.

All those facts are leading to a total surveillance. And cooperation of major cell carriers with authorities, selling of personal data to advertisers and third parties can prove that. Google Glass will probably make everyone to spy on each other and hand all the data over to a third party, which will remain transparent.

But there is something that can be done with that. You can use Bluetooth jamming device, which will block the connection between Glass and the smartphone, without disrupting GSM service and mobile Internet. That will be probably the best solution, if those glasses will become popular and widely spread.

Yesterday, at the Hack In The Box Conference in Amsterdam, Hugo Teso, security consultant form n.runs AG, made a report on a an easy, and totally real scenario of plane hijacking with help of a simple Android application. Hugo Teso works with IT-industry for the last 11 years and also, he is a commercial pilot with and made thousands of flights. That’s why he could combine his knowledge and experience from both his professions and analyze the security level of aircraft computers and communications protocols.

He was able to use two new aircraft communication systems to detect that vulnerability, gather information on it and finally exploiting it. He created a special SIMON framework and mobile Android application (PlaneSploit), which is able to send a malicious code to the Flight Management System, also at the conference mentioned above he has shown how the whole thing works and got the full control over the plane from an Android smartphone. But as long as Android OS is one of the most vulnerable to malware, literary any mobile phone with Android OS may be used for that.

The firs technology he has exploited was Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B). That system is used to send information about each plane (unique ID, current coordinates and height) with on-board transmitter to the aircraft movement dispatch. That lets other planes to get a full information about all the planes and the weather in the area.

The second is Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS), which is used for two way communications with a dispatch with a VHF radio waves or with a satellite. Also it helps to transmit data about all the phases of the flight to the ground. Both of those systems are really vulnerable and are sensitive to a wide range of passive and active attacks.

Teso used ADS-B to locate and pick the target and ACARS to gather information about the onboard computer and exploiting its vulnerabilities by sending a malicious message. Hugo Teso used his previous reaserches to create a SIMON framework, that enables those hacking techniques. He intentionally made it working in virtual environment only, so nobody else would be able to use that in real life. But we at Jammer-Store Inc. have to mention that vulnerabilities and the whole principle of that hack is real, and may be used by evildoers.

The main feature of that framework is that it is undetectable, there is no need even to mask it as a rootkit. Attacker can use SIMON to upload a certain malicious code on the remote Flight Management System, upload fake flight plans, commands, etc. Also he has shown an Android app that uses SIMON framework to control a plane in motion remotely. PlaneSploit is really easy to use. It uses Flightradar24 tracker to locate nearby planes and you can tap any plane on the map.

The interface of PlaneSploit makes it easy to detect, gather info and hack the closest planes. We should mention that it won’t work without special high-gain antennas and a modulator, and the power of the signal must be really high to reach the plane. And have you noticed that smartphones are frequently used for hacking.

As you probably understand, Teso has not shared the details on how he was able to achieve that with third parties, but he admits that he was pleased with major plane’s manufacturers, because they are eager to fix those vulnerabilities and will help Hugo Teso with his further researches. He has also told that the old flight systems that were developed in mid 70s are the most vulnerable and they has to be fully replaced with a new hardware. And the new planes require better protected software.

But that hacking problem has a really simple solution, a combined 3G/4G jammer will block any smartphone and the plane will be safe. Also, the hack will work only if autopilot is online and it is necessary to turn it off, if the plane is under attack. The bad news are that pilot has to realize that the system is hacked, to do all the necessary manoeuvers manually.

It’s common, that everyone of us visits same places day by day in his or her everyday routine, and those visits are at the same time everyday: home, office, gym, shop, home again.
Two points let researchers to tell one individual track form another for more than a half of all users, and eleven points are enough to tell every single track one from another. You can see examples of those “individual tracks” on a picture below. Those scientists compare that unique mobile track with fingerprints and the conclusion is that it can be used for identification.

As we’ve already said, database contain any personal information, and it is known that Sprint/Nextel have such databases and they provide it to law enforcements without any warrant. So, we can see that mobile carriers are helping to track us. Verizon, for example even sells such a private information to third parties. Even more, now, law enforcements have special devices that can spoof cell towers and log your location with all the traffic.

So, as it goes, you may find a couple of such track-points of every man from an open sources, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and easily find his or her tracks, which will allow you to see all the movements of the target. The best helper for evildoers here is Foursquare, because there anyone can find location data all together with exact time stamp.

That method also give a great accuracy, the database used for analysis contained location data gathered with cell tower triangulation with really low accuracy and time stamps were accurate to hours. Such a combination gave prominent result. Also, as you probably see, the degree of uniqueness of those mobile tracks with be lower, due to the low accuracy of the database data, those mistakes were easily levelled with using more track points.

Also, the quantity of user is also has low effect, because the density of base stations is higher, where there are more users and that is the reason why in rural areas one base station may provide a 15 km accuracy for cell tower triangulation, an in big cities the accuracy of the technique is up to 0.15 km. Also, 94% of all people rarely leave a 100 radius territory. That is why this technique works great for big territories, as for lots of users.

So if you are cell phone user – it is the right time to think about would you like to have somebody watching you? And you should know that not only law enforcements can do it, evildoers can too, that is why it is better to be preapered to face that kind of tracking with a cell phone blocker, which will make sure that you will leave no mobile track.

It’s 21st century now, we live in an informational era, when information is the most valuable resource. And with the development of wireless technologies it becomes really hard to keep our information in secret and protect it from third parties. These days special devices, such as GSM bugs, hidden microphones and lasers are available to almost everyone and are used for spying. Many people don’t even know that eavesdropping bugs appeared a long time ago. The first widely known episode of their utilization was in 1972 in USA. A group of specialists from Nickson’s election headquarters quietly slipped into headquarters of democrat’s party candidate and installed hidden radio microphones, so they were able to hear what their counterparts are talking about. And that was probably the first time when eavesdropping technology was used not only by law enforcements or secret services, but by common people. And probably form that time various eavesdropping bugs are used for political and industrial espionage.

Nowadays, there is nothing really complicated about those bugs. Any educated and experienced specialist may organize a whole eavesdropping system. That’s why today we at Jammer-Store decided to tell our readers about the most widely spread types of eavesdropping devices, the way they work and how to detect, or disable them.

Wireless Microphones

Such a wireless microphone is the most convenient device for hidden eavesdropping. They consist of the microphone, power source and a radio transmitter. Those small devices may be powered with a battery, but in that case they will work for a small period of time. Advanced versions are powered from the mains. Those devices are frequently installed in wall sockets, lamps and other places, where they are really hard to find.

The main disadvantage of the wireless microphones, which are powered with a battery is the limited working time, but they are far more easy to install. Those small bugs have different working range, in which they are able to hear voices and it varies between 15 and 80 feet. And transmission radius may be really huge, between a dozen and hundreds of meters. Sometimes evildoers may use a network of relays, to broadcast that signal even further.

Wireless microphones may use different frequency ranges, the most widely spread are 140-200 and 450-480 MHz. The higher the frequency – the bigger is the transmission range and the power consumption. Also, higher frequencies penetrate walls and other obstacles easier. Fortunately, it is possible to detect those kind of devices with a special receivers. But advanced version may have a special signal modulation, and you won;t be able to intercept and to, actually, hear them. Ina that case you can try block their broadcasting with UHF/VHF jamming device.

Network Transmitters

Network transmitters are small devices, that are installed into various electrical appliances, they gather and transmit information in low frequency audio range. They use an electric power grid to send the signal, and it may be received from any wall socket of the same segment of the grid.

The main disadvantage of that kind of eavesdropping bugs is that that the first transformer will corrupt the signal, so you will have to stay really close to the targeted area. Also, it will take some time to install a bug like that, because it has to be connected directly into the power grid. We should also mention that there is no universal way to block them. You should simply check all electrical appliances and make sure that nobody makes anything suspicious with them.

GSM Bugs

GSM bugs are acting principally the same as the most primitive mobile phone. The bug is powered with a battery, as a rule it is the most widely spread Li-Ion battery. It consists of the microphone and a GSM module with a SIM card of the local mobile carrier. Once the bug detects a noise around it, it simply calls a certain phone number and evildoer listens to everything that is going on near the device. The benefits of the device are: wide working range, it may work anywhere, where there is a GSM coverage and very simple installation process. Also, they are widely spread and any one can buy such a device on the Internet. Those bugs are popular and are the main reason why big companies have GSM signal blockers in their conference halls and offices of high executives. That’s probably the only reason to block transmissions of those devices.

Stationery microphones

Stationary microphones can be installed and disguised in a wide variety of places. They are connected with a central receiver with help of small wires, which are disguised too. In general, you can attach a piezo sensor to an office table and it will work as a microphone.

The main trick here is that your voice makes a table to vibrate, sensor reads those vibrations and transmits them to a receiver, which transforms them into sound. Those microphones are highly effective, but it takes lots of time to install them. Also you will have to stay really close to the target.

Also, we should mention, that with the development of modern smartphones the danger of eavesdropping grows, because evildoers are able to use your own smartphone as a bug. It is rather easy to install a special app, which will simply make your smartphone to dial a certain phone number and to work as a GSM bug. So, as you can see, there are lots of special devices, which are used for stealing information. As we’ve already mentioned, they are usually used for political and industrial espionage, but as long as information is the most valuable resource and those devices are widely spread – it is better to be prepared to face eavesdropping.

As you probably know, traditional device for hacking Wi-Fi networks is a notebook, because hacker will be able to use various specific wireless modules, transmitters and receivers and the fact that hacker will have lots of specific software for that. But as you know, smartphones and mobile platforms are developing really fast and nowadays, all those hacking operations may be easily made with your smartphone.

Disclaimer: it is not a how to guide, it is a simple example, that is used to show that wireless networks are not really safe and a simple iPhone user may be able to crack any wireless network. We at Jammer-Store do not recommend you to do what’s written here, because you will surely have problems and legal issues.

First of all we should mention that your iPhone must be jailbroken, because Apple Store simply bans all the apps, used for Wi-Fi spoofing. But you should know that jailbreak really lowers your smartphone’s security. All the apps needed to do hack a wireless network are available at Cydia repository. And everything works perfectly on iOS 4 and higher. The first thing that will be used in that experimetn is “libcap” it is a special library for capturing packages sent with a wireless network. That library will enable hackers to use several popular apps for traffic interception.

You will also need access to the console of your smartphone. You can get it with OpenSSH or Terminal app from Cydia. Those app will requeire Berkeley DB libraries. They are available at a standard repository. Also, that app will be really helpful if you are an experienced user. Bu you should be really careful with that, because using those apps, you can easily let a malware to your smartphone.

The most popular and functional application for Wi-Fi spoofing for iOS is Ettercap application, it is able to do all the work from it’s interface. We should mention that if you will use that app with a local Terminal app, you won’t be able to use graphical interface, just a console, but if you will use OpenSSH – simply run “ettercap -C” command to get a user-friendly intrface.

That app provides really reach options for Wi-Fi spoofing and attack. It is possible to gather and analyze traffic and acquire WEP keys for network access. If the targeted wireless net is using WPA or WPA-2 encryption protocol – you’ll have to wait until somebody connects the net. At that moment the password he enters will be intercepted. The only disadvantage here is that it is really inconvenient to work with a console mode.

There is another really popular app, that may be use for the same purposes. It is “pirni” app. That is a traffic interceptor, that was developed especially for iOS. That app is able to gather and analyze traffic, read it with filters for data mining and commence attack on ARP tables of one or multiple hosts. There are both free and commercial versions. The main advantage of the app is its intuitive interface, which enables you to hack wireless networks in one or two clicks.

As a conclusion we may say that wireless networks are not as safe, as we have used to think. They are hackable with smartphones and simple apps. That is why we always recommend to avoid that type of networking and use wired connections or, at least Wi-Fi jamming devices, at places, where Wi-Fi may be reached from outside your facility. We hope that this example will help you to avoid Wi-fi hackers and your private, or corporate information will be safe.

Many Catholics and representatives of other Christian confessions all over the world breathlessly watched the conclave at The Sistine Chapel in Vatican, where a new Pope was elected. The conclave started at 12th of March and it was probably the most interesting and the most secure conclave for a pretty long time. That was the first time when the informational security of this truly epochal event was at such a high stake. The whole Sistine Chapel and Santa Maria living complex was mounted with signal blockers, to prevent information leaks.

Those special cell phone jamming devices were installed in order to prevent the 115 cardinals, which were participating in the election, from using modern wireless gadgets, and to block any surveillance and eavesdropping devices in the Chapel and the Santa Maria living quarters. Despite the fact that all the staff and cardinals are swearing oaths not to spread the information about the election process and everything that goes on during the conclave, they still have no rights, and now any possibility to use any devices for communications.

But that were not the all restrictive measures. Cardinals made a decision that an excommunication awaits anyone who will try to break the secrecy, despite his of her range. Media relations director of the US Conference of Bishops Mary Ann Walsh thinks that: “In our electronic age, there is always a risk that someone among the cardinals will use an iPad or Tweeter during the conclave”. Such a measures are not really new to the conclave, they were adopted in 2005, but then there were no need to use a 3G and 4G jamming devices, because smartphones and tablets were not so widely spread and they used only anti-eavesdropping devices.

One of the reasons of those strict security measures was the fact that there are lots of young cardinals at this conclave and many of them have their own blogs and microblogs, and Vatican was really concerned with a possibility of information leaks through those blogs, if the conclave would last for a really long time. There was such a precedent, when a German cardinal gave the name of the newly elected Pope to the German press, before his name was officially called.

Many people think that it was a rather wise decision, because eavesdropping and surveillance devices are widely spread nowadays, and cardinals have modern smartphones, which can pose a danger too. Those smartphones have lots of vulnerabilities and evildoers may have used them for eavesdropping. For doing that it is enough to hack the target phone over Bluetooth, or install a special app, that will be able to dial random phone numbers. In that case any mobile phone at the Chapel may be turned into an eavesdropping bug. We at Jammer-Store think that this act of Vatican will show people that signal blocking device may be really helpful and that their only goal is to protect your information.

As we’ve already mentioned, the conclave began at 12th of March and finished and at 14th of March faithful people have seen a white smoke, coming from the Sistine Chapel pipe and heard the bells ring. Archbishop of Buenos-Aires Jorge Mario Bergoglio became a new Pope.
